VOCAL LESSON – the mechanics of the VOCAL CHORDS up close – 10:27 minutes 

In this lesson Tim Gilberg discusses vocal mechanics and how understanding how vocal mechanics work and why controling your vocal chords is a big piece of what singing is all about. A clip is shown with a camera from inside the throat so  you can see the internal workings of the human vocal chords. So you will see what happens when sound is emitted from the throat.

In this lesson Celeste continues with will proper breathing techniques for the voice. Celeste explains what the diaphram is and how to start using the diaphram so not to restrict your lung capacity and how to use proper breathing technique when singing. It’s very important to sing with the proper techniques – that is critical. And it all starts with the breath, and bringing the breath in through your diaphram – also called diaphramatic breathing – you have to breathe properly to sing properly. You can do it! ROCK ON!

VOCAL LESSON on KEY and how KEY relates to your voice by Celeste – 8:02 minutes

Celeste talks about the importance of singing in a key that suits your voice well. You can always change the key of the song to get yourself in the right key for your voice. The vocalist always gets to choose the key to suit their voice. Celeste gives you some musical examples of key and plays them on piano. You will also learn about sharps and flats. Celeste then plays a few songs on piano in different keys and demonstrates how you can easily change the key of a song to suit your voice. Its easy and fun – rock on good people!

VOCAL LESSON – finding your range and learning about chest and head voice – 8:27 minutes   

Celeste starts this vocal lesson with a yawn warm up to get the voice warmed up. She also talks about hitting notes with your voice that would point you in the direction of identifying if you are a tenor, baritone, or bassist in the male voice. She then talks about chest and head voice and the differences between them as well as working through the “break”. She also defines alto and  soprano in the female voice.

VOCAL LESSON – Applying principles on SINGING & PLAYING together – 6:07 minutes

In this lesson Celeste talks about playing an instrument and singing at the same time. You want to get solid on playing the arrangement on the instrument first before trying to sing. A lot of it comes down to muscle memory and Celeste emphasizes the importance of practicing your vocal exercises daily and how that relates to strengthening the muscle memory of the voice. Celeste also talks about using your ear and brain to keep us on pitch when singing.
