SHRED BLUES licks lesson with killer string bending in the Dorian mode – 7:02 min

In this lesson Willie teaches some shred blues licks for you to enjoy. This is a real bluesy type lick using the Dorian mode. Use these lick examples in all different musical genres. Start that F major scale on a G note and you are in G Dorian. Learn the scale up close with a tight shot of the neck and you will see where these licks are pulled. Practice the licks slow and work them up to speed – remember to emphasize the G notes and also play with those half step bends as they are really cool and emotive. Willie teaches some cool killer bends and ties the licks together – get creative with them and keep rocking!

In this lesson Jeff teaches some fun surf licks over a mambo groove. This lesson is in the key of A minor and its a slow mambo groove. The chords are Am – G – F – Am. Jeff teaches the rhythm progression first. Get in that pocket to get the groove to sound correct. Jeff then gets into the lead licks that can be played over this rhythm. Jeff pulls some of the ideas from the A minor scale. Hear how the licks sound over each chord. This is a slow groove so dont rush the notes – kind of lay back in the groove. Learn the licks as Jeff teaches them at first and then try and vary them and mix up the notes to come up with licks of your own. Lay these chords down and practice the licks and have fun!
