In this lesson Ben Zinn teaches some cool pedal steel licks adapted for electric guitar using a slide. Ben goes over some basic slide techniques to start off this lesson. Then he moves on to fret hand technique and string muting to get a good clean tone. This lesson teaches how to emulate pedal steel sounds from an electric guitar. Ben also uses a foot controlled volume pedal to swell in the notes much like a pedal steel player uses a volume pedal. In this lesson Jeff Ross teaches some doublestop devices that are not just for country but can be use for rock, blues, R&B and Soul, Gospel, and many other musical genres. A doublestop is just two notes played at once. So they have a much different texture than just one note. This is a very popular technique that many Memphis players picked up on. Jeff teaches these in the key of G based off triads, which are just three note chords. The triads will be the basis for the doublestops. Add these to your arsenal and get creative with them.
