In this lesson Jeff Ross dives deep into teaching some funky blues licks in the style of Albert Collins. This lesson will be in the key of C over a bouncy early 60s Texas Funky R&B rhythm C7 chord. Jeff teaches the rhythm and how to get funky with it. Practice the rhythm first and get the groove in the pocket. Then Jeff goes on to teach the licks. He even throws in some BB KIng type licks as well. Try these in different keys and practice them over the jam tracks in the jam track section of the site. Keep on rocking!
More BLUES ROCK licks using slides for different sounds – 12:54 min
In this lesson David Taub teaches some killer blues rock licks using slides to get some different sounds and tones. David breaks down the slide devices using the Minor Pentatonic Expanded One blues scale in the key of B minor. This scale combines three minor pentatonic box shapes into a long shape that moves laterally across the neck. If you want to see this scale and all the other pentatonic scales diagrammed out on paper be sure and go to the written lessons section of this website and look for the blues scales written lesson. David breaks down all the licks and plays them at slow and regular speed with all the fingerings discussed in detail. Have fun and work these licks up and then practice them in various keys using the jam tracks in the jam tracks section of the site. Enjoy!
