In this lesson Dave Nassie teaches some lead guitar techniques utilizing approach notes when soloing. Its so critical to know the chords you are soloing over and then to outline them as the chords are changing. THis is what we call treating each chord as a separate event and try to lead into the change with a chord tone when soloing, choosing a note that makes up the given chord to emphasize. These techniques can be used in any style of music when soloing or improvising, here Dave demonstrates more in a bluesy context, but you can use it in any style. You can make HUGE solo statements by using approach notes and spacing in your playing and Dave teaches in this lesson.
