In this lesson you will learn two critical techniques for lead guitar playing, the hammer-on and the pull-off. The exercises in this module will really help build finger strength and dexterity. PLAY LEAD GUITAR- take a scale and make riffs and motifs with rhythmic variation 15:45 min

You can start playing lead guitar TODAY good people! IN this lesson we will use just one scale in one position and use a few notes to get the creative juices flowing to start making licks and riffs and having fun. We will use the A-G-D jam track for this exercise. We will just use the minor pentatonic basic box shape to get you started playing lead guitar. We will just use that basic box shape in A minor to get you started. David shows you some riffs and ways to play rhythmically over the jam track to start putting lead line ideas together and build an entire motif. David will teach you how to take a basic lick and slightly vary it to create many different licks with rhythmic variation. David also teaches you how to draw the listener into your solos with melody and rhythm and how to build off yourself when playing. For purposes of this exercise and lesson David stays in just that one basic box position to get you playing lead guitar using various note combinations – eventually you will be moving the scale all over the neck – but for now you just want to get good staying in one position and working on your rhythm, timing, notes and riffs, melody, phrasing and lead lines.

You will really want to get good at the proper techniques of bending strings as it will add so much to your playing. David  discusses the importance of bending in pitch and bending while having a target note in mind. Bending in pitch is absolutely critical! You just cant be bending any note and not knowing what you are bending to. In this module you will learn different techniques for bending strings and how to ensure you are bending to the proper note and bending it pitch.
