In this lesson Tyler teaches in depth the free stroke. You get lots of exercises to get the free stroke techniques down cold. Many of these exercises teach alternating fingers with the right hand. Metronome use when doing the exercises are demonstrated as well as playing multiple strings at once with the free stroke. Proper technique and form is critical and Tyler really emphasizes the proper movements. Start off slow and build the speed – it will come with time and practice – stay positive!

In this lesson Tyler teaches some more right hand practice exercises to really nail down the fingerstyle technique. Tyler takes you through the right hand position with a close up on the pluck hand so you know exactly what fingers to use and where to place them. These exercises will focus on the rest stroke and really trains the fingers to work correctly and properly. Practice a few minutes a day and really concentrate on the specific movements – we are building the muscle memory here – you can do iT!

In this lesson we cover shape and length of your fingernails if you choose to use them in this style. You dont have to use nails as you can you use your fingertips – the choice is yours. But if you do choose to use nails you want to have the proper shape and length. Right hand positioning is taught in depth with each finger taught to be on a specific string – this will be your general planting position for just about everything going forward. Proper right hand strokes are defined – the rest stroke and the free stroke. In this lesson Tyler goes over in depth the proper technique for the rest stroke and gives exercises to practice these techniques.

In this lesson you will learn a bunch of bar chords all off the low E string or 6th string root. As a guitarist it is absolutely critical to know a large catalog of chords and especially have a solid grasp of bar chords. David will teach you how to get real proficient at utilizing these chord shapes, and then moving them around the neck. These chords will be based off that 6th string root major bar chord – you should be good at that one and have all the notes ringing true. In this module David will take that basic major voicing and teach you how just by moving a finger or two you can now play not only the major bar chord but also minor, 7th, and minor 7th. Practice these chords in all keys and practice moving them around. There are exercises to come on moving these bar chords and getting real proficient at grabbing them fast.
