Bar chord practicing and strumming exercises inspired by the PIXIES – 6:53 min
In this lesson Finbar teaches bar chord rhythms and feels inspired by the Pixies. Fin teaches some different ways to strum and move around bar chords. If you have been having trouble getting your bar chords to sound good then this lesson is for you. Fin teaches root 6th string and root 5th string bar chords. Use these rhythms as an exercise and start moving around the chords as per Fin’s lesson. Fin also teaches the bar chord chucking. Soon you will be sliding around these chords and using them in your own song, rhythm, and practice exercises. Fin also teaches a very necessary muting technique so you don’t get unwanted string noise when strumming these chords. Stay positive and remember that bar chords are challenging, but with time and practice you will get them – stay positive and keep up all that hard work on that guitar.
WORLD MUSIC playing using arpeggios PAUL SIMON inspired lesson – 5:40 min
In this lesson Ben Zinn teaches how to bring some World Music style to your playing using arpeggios in the Paul Simon style. Ben teaches some arpeggio runs using triplets to play along with the rhythm lines. This lesson progression is an E to A chord and you will start with some easy 16th note strumming. Ben goes over the rhythm feel and then gets into the arpeggios, bouncing between an E arpeggio and a D arpeggio. Ben teaches some runs with these arpeggios to use as a fill in the rhythm playing. Use these ideas in your rhythm and lead playing and try to toss them into your playing in different keys. Enjoy and keep on rocking!
