All the chords are built from the notes in a C major scale – C, D, E, F, G, A, and B. Something else you can try to apply this two-note lead lines that outline the chords – Larry demonstrates. So much that you can do with these chords. You can try to build the chords in other keys as well. C is the only major key with no sharps or flats. Give some of these a try and stay creative and experiment wit them – rock on!
Chord embellishing on an electric guitar inspired by an Ed Sheeran acoustic song – 5:39 min
In this lesson Dave Nassie was inspired by an acoustic song by popular artist Ed Sheeran. He then drew inspiration from the acoustic and put it on the electric and spins out a lesson on chordal embellishments on electric guitar – interesting for sure! Dave teaches embellishing chords in different ways to get unique sounds. Dave starts off teaching an E type power chord and how to add notes to it to create melody. Then going to a C type chord he teaches ways to embellish that chord. So start thinking melody and notes around the area of a given chord. Try different notes and techniques as per the lesson and find what sounds pleasing to your ear – let your ear guide you. Dave adds natural harmonics on that C chord with his pinky for a cool effect. Then Dave goes into a D chord and adds some cool doublestops. Then a different voicing when back to the Em chord. So you see how Dave changes up the chord voicing or embellishments each time around. Use this lesson as a template to examine other chords and progressions you are working on and think outside the box and embellish – add these to your playing arsenal and keep up all that hard work on that guitar. Rock on!
