Lesson 31 How to read CHORD CHARTS the easy and fun way – 12:55 minutes

This lesson will teach you about the basic terminlogy and symbols for reading chord charts in the most popular guitar format. This is pretty much the industry standard for writing chords out on paper. We use some big blow up props to show you how to turn a graphic representation of a chord into the actual chord on guitar. Get used to reading chords in this fashion as you will be seeing chords depicted in this fashion all the time – its very standard.

Lesson 30 Practice Routine 1 – practice following the structured plan – 7:22 minutes

This module is practice routine number one. This lesson will discuss where you should be at in your playing to date as well as we tell you what to practice and how things should be sounding to date. Its crucial to follow this structured plan as we take you through the steps of learning guitar. You just cant be practicing any old things – you have to practice the RIGHT things as we outline in these practice modules. Have fun and stay positive….you can do it!

Lesson 29 Strum along on STRUM 2 and then learn G major and Cadd9 chords 4:24 minutes 

This module is a practice routine strum along to get your strumming honed in on strum 2. It will tie everything together that you learned about strumming to date as we dial in your rhythm and timing. These aspects of your playing are crucial so please give them their due dilligence as outlined in these practice routines. Then you can practice this strum pattern with the other open position chords that you are learning. Strum along and have fun!

Lesson 28 LEARN STRUM PATTERN 2  and now you have rhythm! 7:04 minutes 

LEARN A STRUM PATTERN – you need to have rhythm in your playing to make your strumming sound musical. In this module we will teach you the repeating series of rests that give music its rhythm – hence the need for strum patterns. This module will teach you what we feel is the easiest strum pattern to start with – we call it strum 2. This is the pattern that most students gravitate towards and can fully digest and apply the fastest. We will teach you this strum slow at first and soon you will be strumming in time with a strum pattern and now you have rythem!

Lesson 27 Learn to play an A major chord – keep adding to your chord catalog – 8:42 minutes 

This lesson will teach you a few different fingerings to learn and play an A major chord. Remember your three goals as we continue to attack the first two – and in this module you will learn yet another chord! Get all the notes to ring true and memorize the fingering. Take care and rock on!

Lesson 26 Finger stretches 1 & 2 to help stretch, strengthen fingers – 10:53 minutes 

This lesson will teach you some basic finger stretches both on the guitar and also when you dont have a guitar handy. These are great to do as a warm-up and to work on stretching the distance between your fingers. We want to build the strength and dexterity of your fret hand. Add these exercises to your practice regimen and do them a few minutes each day. Rock on!

Lesson 25 Strum along straight 8th notes on Em, learn C and D chords 4:37 minutes 

This lesson is a practice routine for your strumming mechaincs using straight 8th notes. We will also teach you the concept of measures in music. This module also reviews the mechanics of good strumming technique as well as we let you know about where you should be at in your guitar journey to date.

Lesson 24 Quarter and eighth note strumming on Em chord 7:31 minutes 

This lesson will teach you the proper strumming techniques and how to strum in time with quarter and eighth notes. Music is so much more than just chords and notes – it is also about rythem and meter. In this lesson we continue to break things down for you, and explain them in digestable pieces which you then apply. Learn these techniques and you will soon be strumming like a true champion. Follow these modules and practice routines according to our structured plan. Many feel strumming and rythem is the most challenging aspect of guitar – but we make it fun and easy and will get you strumming in no time – dont get discouraged, you can do it, and as always….have fun!

Lesson 23 Learn to play an E major and Am chords 6:49 minutes 

This lesson will teach you your next two open position chords – E major and A minor. Close camera angles will ensure you are utilizing the proper fret hand technique when learning these chords. You want to practice to get all the notes to ring true in all the chords you are learning. It will take time but remember that your playing is an evolution. Keep up all the hard work!
