ALAN HOLDSWORTH inspired lead guitar lick ideas and phrasing techniques – 9:54 min

In this lesson Dave Nassie teaches some lick ideas and lick techniques inspired by Alan Holdsworth. This lesson focuses on the fret hand and falls heavy n the legato style. Dave uses a Mixolydian scale shape to demonstrate the concepts. Dave then gets into teaching some unique patterns that give some interesting sounding licks. Lot of hammer ons and once you get the sequence down you will get all kinds of lick ideas. dave also teaches the whole tone scale as you can also do this pattern with that scale. These licks sound real spacey and dissonant – very cool. Work these patterns up to speed slowly – they will take a while to get down so start off slow and work them up over time. Remember to mute out the string noise and concentrate on getting the patters clean. YOU CAN DO IT – enjoy!

23 Rock guitar two hand tapping techniques inspired by JOE SATRIANI – 9:34 min

Rock guitar two hand tapping techniques inspired by Joe Satriani – 9:34 min

In this lesson Dave Nassie gets into the right handed tapping techniques in the style of Joe Satriani. This techniques will emulate piano techniques and play off chords using two handed tapping techniques. Dave starts off with a D power chord and teaches the technique slow at first and concentrates on getting as little string noise as possible. Dave uses a sock to mute the strings but a hair tie works just as well to dampen and mute out the strings at the nut. You need to be patient with these techniques as building the speed will help the notes roll into each other. Build up the speed over time and be patient as you want all the notes to ring out into each other as you roll through the  phrases. Dave gets you started with these but take these chord voicings and techniques to the next level and come up with your own patterns and put your own spin on them – enjoy!
